Step 1Sipping water

Sip water from the pañca-pātrī three times to purify the mouth and throat, preparing the body for spiritual practice by cleansing the gateway of the life force.

Step 2Rinsing the hands

Rinse the hands with water from the pañca-pātrī to cleanse them of any impurities, ensuring the hands are pure for the ritual and other spiritual practices.

Step 3Washing the feet

Wash the feet or at least the toes to cleanse and ground the body, symbolizing the washing away of worldly impurities and connecting with the earth element.

Step 4Mantra recitation

Recite the Ācamana mantra, such as 'Ācamanaṃ Ācamanaṃ Ācamanaṃ' or the Praṇāma mantra, to invoke the divine presence and establish a pure intention for the ritual and subsequent practices.
