Step 1Pūjā Preparation

Prepare the pūjā area by cleaning and purifying it with ghee or sesame oil to create a sacred space for the ritual.

Step 2Ācamanam and Prāṇāyāma

Perform ācamanam, sipping water from the palm, and prāṇāyāma, controlled breathing, to calm and focus the mind.

Step 3Ṭīkā Application

Apply a small dot of kumkum or red sandalwood paste between the eyebrows, symbolizing the third eye and invoking higher consciousness.

Step 4Japa and Dhyāna

Chant a mantra, such as 'Om Śāntiḥ', and practice dhyāna, meditation, to connect with the divine and quiet the mind.
