यदाश्रौषं विविधास् तात चेष्टा; धर्मात्मनां प्रस्थितानां वनाय ज्येष्ठप्रीत्या क्लिश्यतां पाण्डवानां; तदा नाशंसे विजयाय संजय यदाश्रौषं द्रौपदीं तां ब्रुवाणां प्रव्रज्यायाम् अश्रुकण्ठीं रुदन्तीम् पत्यौ युक्तां नात्र वस्तुं हि धर्मस् तदा नाशंसे विजयाय संजय
yadāśrauṣaṃ vividhās tāta ceṣṭā; dharmātmanāṃ prasthitānāṃ vanāya jyeṣṭhaprītyā kliśyatāṃ pāṇḍavānāṃ; tadā nāśaṃse vijayāya saṃjaya yadāśrauṣaṃ draupadīṃ tāṃ bruvāṇāṃ pravrajyāyām aśrukaṇṭhīṃ rudantīm patyau yuktāṃ nātra vastuṃ hi dharmas tadā nāśaṃse vijayāya saṃjaya
“Dhritarashtra recounts to Sanjaya, one by one, the events he heard of - Arjuna's winning of Draupadi, the Rajasuya, the dice game and Draupadi's humiliation, the exile, Arjuna's divine weapons, and all the deeds of the great war - after each of which, he says, he had no hope of success.
