संजयैवंगते प्राणांस् त्यक्तुम् इच्छामि माचिरम् स्तोकं ह्य् अपि न पश्यामि फलं जीवितधारणे
saṃjayaivaṃgate prāṇāṃs tyaktum icchāmi māciram stokaṃ hy api na paśyāmi phalaṃ jīvitadhāraṇe
“Dhritarashtra tells Sanjaya that he wishes to put an end to his life without delay, finding no advantage in cherishing it; the wise Sanjaya then addresses the distressed king in words of deep import. (trans. K.M. Ganguli)”
