तं तथावादिनं दीनं विलपन्तं महीपतिम् निःश्वसन्तं यथा नागं मुह्यमानं पुनः पुनः गावल्गणिर् इदं धीमान् महार्थं वाक्यम् अब्रवीत्
taṃ tathāvādinaṃ dīnaṃ vilapantaṃ mahīpatim niḥśvasantaṃ yathā nāgaṃ muhyamānaṃ punaḥ punaḥ gāvalgaṇir idaṃ dhīmān mahārthaṃ vākyam abravīt
“Dhritarashtra tells Sanjaya that he wishes to put an end to his life without delay, finding no advantage in cherishing it; the wise Sanjaya then addresses the distressed king in words of deep import. (trans. K.M. Ganguli)”
