कालः पचति भूतानि कालः संहरति प्रजाः निर्दहन्तं प्रजाः कालं कालः शमयते पुनः
kālaḥ pacati bhūtāni kālaḥ saṃharati prajāḥ nirdahantaṃ prajāḥ kālaṃ kālaḥ śamayate punaḥ
“Sanjaya declares that Time creates all things and destroys all creatures, that Time alone is awake when all things are asleep and is incapable of being overcome, and that all things past, future and present are the offspring of Time; having thus administered comfort, he restored Dhritarashtra's mind to peace.
