कालो विकुरुते भावान् सर्वांल् लोके शुभाशुभान् कालः संक्षिपते सर्वाः प्रजा विसृजते पुनः कालः सुप्तेषु जागर्ति कालो हि दुरतिक्रमः अतीतान् आगतान् वापि वर्तमानास् तथा बुधाः नानुशोचन्ति राजेन्द्र कालो हि जगदन्तकः कालः सर्वेषु भूतेषु चरत्य् अविधृतः समः
kālo vikurute bhāvān sarvāṃl loke śubhāśubhān kālaḥ saṃkṣipate sarvāḥ prajā visṛjate punaḥ kālaḥ supteṣu jāgarti kālo hi duratikramaḥ atītān āgatān vāpi vartamānās tathā budhāḥ nānuśocanti rājendra kālo hi jagadantakaḥ kālaḥ sarveṣu bhūteṣu caraty avidhṛtaḥ samaḥ
“Sanjaya declares that Time creates all things and destroys all creatures, that Time alone is awake when all things are asleep and is incapable of being overcome, and that all things past, future and present are the offspring of Time; having thus administered comfort, he restored Dhritarashtra's mind to peace.
