इतिहासपुराणाभ्यां वेदं समुपबृंहयेत् बिभेत्य् अल्पश्रुताद् वेदो माम् अयं प्रतरिष्यति
itihāsapurāṇābhyāṃ vedaṃ samupabṛṃhayet bibhety alpaśrutād vedo mām ayaṃ pratariṣyati
“He who causes even a single foot of it to be recited to Brahmanas at a Sraddha makes his offerings to the manes inexhaustible; by history and the Puranas the Veda may be expounded, and the learned man who recites this Veda of Vyasa gains advantage, destroys even the sin of killing an embryo, and by reading this holy chapter reads the whole Bharata.
