इदं तु त्रिषु लोकेषु महज् ज्ञानं प्रतिष्ठितम् विस्तरैश् च समासैश् च धार्यते यद् द्विजातिभिः
idaṃ tu triṣu lokeṣu mahaj jñānaṃ pratiṣṭhitam vistaraiś ca samāsaiś ca dhāryate yad dvijātibhiḥ
“Some bards have already published this history, some teach it now and others will promulgate it hereafter; it is a great source of knowledge, embellished with elegant expressions, and Vyasa, seated on a darbha mat in a cave of the holy Himalaya, purified himself and beheld all things.
