इतिहासाः सवैयाख्या विविधाः श्रुतयो ऽपि च इह सर्वम् अनुक्रान्तम् उक्तं ग्रन्थस्य लक्षणम् संक्षेपेणेतिहासस्य ततो वक्ष्यामि विस्तरम्
itihāsāḥ savaiyākhyā vividhāḥ śrutayo 'pi ca iha sarvam anukrāntam uktaṃ granthasya lakṣaṇam saṃkṣepeṇetihāsasya tato vakṣyāmi vistaram
“The generation of the Devas was thirty-three thousand, thirty-three hundred and thirty-three; the text traces the descendants of the sun and the families of the Kurus, Yadus, Bharata, Yayati and Ikshwaku, and declares that the threefold mystery - the Vedas, Yoga and Vijnana, and Dharma, Artha and Kama - was seen by the Rishi.
