पराशरात्मजो विद्वान् ब्रह्मर्षिः संशितव्रतः मातुर् नियोगाद् धर्मात्मा गाङ्गेयस्य च धीमतः
parāśarātmajo vidvān brahmarṣiḥ saṃśitavrataḥ mātur niyogād dharmātmā gāṅgeyasya ca dhīmataḥ
“The son of Satyavati, having by penance and meditation analysed the eternal Veda, afterwards composed this holy history - that learned Brahmarshi of strict vows, the noble Dwaipayana Vyasa, offspring of Parasara. (trans. K.M. Ganguli)”
