क्षेत्रे विचित्रवीर्यस्य कृष्णद्वैपायनः पुरा त्रीन् अग्नीन् इव कौरव्याञ् जनयाम् आस वीर्यवान्
kṣetre vicitravīryasya kṛṣṇadvaipāyanaḥ purā trīn agnīn iva kauravyāñ janayām āsa vīryavān
“Krishna-Dwaipayana, by the injunctions of Bhishma and of his own mother, became the father of three boys by the two wives of Vichitra-virya, raising up Dhritarashtra, Pandu and Vidura, and then returned to his recluse abode to prosecute his religious exercise. (trans. K.M. Ganguli)”
