तापसैः सह संवृद्धा मातृभ्यां परिरक्षिताः मेध्यारण्येषु पुण्येषु महताम् आश्रमेषु च
tāpasaiḥ saha saṃvṛddhā mātṛbhyāṃ parirakṣitāḥ medhyāraṇyeṣu puṇyeṣu mahatām āśrameṣu ca
“The sons grew up under the care of their two mothers in the society of ascetics, in sacred groves and holy recluse-abodes, and were conducted by Rishis into the presence of Dhritarashtra and his sons as students in the habit of Brahmacharis with their hair tied in knots; 'These our pupils are as your sons, your brothers and your friends; they are the Pandavas,' said the Munis, and then disappeared.
