समवाये ततो राज्ञां कन्यां भर्तृस्वयंवराम् प्राप्तवान् अर्जुनः कृष्णां कृत्वा कर्म सुदुष्करम्
samavāye tato rājñāṃ kanyāṃ bhartṛsvayaṃvarām prāptavān arjunaḥ kṛṣṇāṃ kṛtvā karma suduṣkaram
“After a while Arjuna obtained the virgin Krishna (Draupadi) at the swayamvara in the midst of a concourse of Rajas by performing a very difficult feat of archery; from that time he became much respected among all bowmen and, in battle, hard to behold like the sun. (trans. K.M. Ganguli)”
